James Marshall Neucker is the first recipient of The Philip Morgan Innovation Prize for students studying at Masters’ level within the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
The award was presented by Professor Medwin Hughes, DL, Vice-Chancellor at today’s graduation ceremony held in the Brangwyn Hall Swansea.
Professor Morgan was the Co-Founder and CEO of Swansea based environmental technology company Power & Water (which specialises in the design, development, manufacture and supply of electro-based water and wastewater treatment systems. He was also made Professor of Practice at UWTSD’s Faculty of Architecture, Computing and Engineering in 2016 before his sad and untimely death earlier this year.
Professor Morgan had been instrumental in promoting the company’s social responsibility by working with STEM Cymru to sponsor local Swansea School, Ysgol Bryntawe, to win 2 successive STEM projects first for a Microbial Fuel cell and second, a Solar PV Drinking Water Plant. He also entered into an academic partnership with UWTSD, which gave rise to the development of the Integrated Masters’ Degree (M.Eng.) course in Renewable Energy and Advanced Water Treatment which also led to the development of PURO, a joint initiative between Power and Water and UWTSD.
James said: “It was brilliant to receive an award from Power and Water. It was great working with Phil at the beginning of the year, it was excellent. I won’t forget this award; the work has been brilliant”
